What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture in a complete system of health care that has been in use for 2,000 years in China. It is the primary approach to healthcare for more than 1/3 of the world's population today and is extremely safe and effective.

The art and science of acupuncture is based on an energetic understanding of the body. The energy, called qi, is seen as the animating force of life and is said to flow along particular pathways called meridians. Illness on any level, including the level of the body, mind/emotions and spirit is understood to be the result of an obstruction or disharmony in the flow of qi through the meridians. In acupuncture we use very fine needles to regulate and harmonise this flow.

In 1980, the World Health Organization (WHO) released a list of 43 types of pathologies which can be effectively treated with acupuncture. Acupuncture involves the insertion of very fine sterilised needles, disposable and never re-used, into the body surface at strategic points. The doctor will leave the needles in place for about thirty minutes or more. The use of needles is virtually painless.

Cosmetic Acupuncture

Acupuncture "face lifts" have been growing in popularity due to their potential to bring back a youthful appearance to a person's face, whilst avoiding all the possible risks and discomfort of a face lift operation performed using conventional plastic surgery.

Acupuncture face lifts also tend to have no negative side effects, unlike conventional face lift operations that can leave your face looking puffy, burned, stretched and banded. A person's facial character will still be present and not effected through acupuncture either. The treatment improves circulation to the individuals face, encouraging collagen production for improved muscle tone and elasticity, - which is what prevents wrinkles from forming on the face.

Some results you should expect to experience from an acupuncture face lift are:

  • Skin will be more fair and delicate
  • A decrease of wrinkles
  • Fine lines will fade and deep lines reduce
  • Fatigued eyelids will lift up
  • Age spots will clear and reduce
  • A general rejuvenation all over, not only your face

Cupping Therapy

Cupping is an ancient Chinese method of causing local congestion. A partial vacuum is created in cups placed on the skin either by means of heat or suction. This draw up the underlying tissues. When the cup is left in place on the skin for a few minutes, blood stasis is formed and localised healing takes place.

Cupping has also been found to affect the body up to four inches into the tissues, causing tissues to release toxins, activate the lymphatic system, clear colon blockage  & help activate and clear the veins, arteries and capillaries.
